REVIEW: Staind & Godsmack bring co-headline tour to Bristow, VA for near sell out crowd

Bracing a heat wave but ready to party, fans packed into the parking lots early to socialize amongst themselves while jamming out and preparing for Staind and the almighty Godsmack to take the stage at Jiffy Lube Live, an outdoor amphitheater in suburban Prince William County, about 35 miles west of Washington, D.C. This night both Staind & Godsmack took us back 20 something years with a full catalog of songs which they performed flawlessly. The amphitheater ERUPTED in unison singing as Staind walked down a pathway of nostalgia with familiar tunes such as ‘Right Here’, ‘Outside’, ‘So Far Away’, ‘It’s Been Awhile’ and a few others. Looking around as Aaron Lewis belted out the lyrics from ‘Epiphany’ really touched me. In that very moment, fans were connecting with Aaron as he sand and hardships felt through the lyrics. Streams of tears flowed endlessly from so many fans. Rounding out a SPECTACULAR performance, Aaron and the boys played ‘Mudshovel’ to bring the mood back up and get the nearly sold out crowd hype for the next band!

Staind is comprised of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Aaron Lewis, lead guitarist Mike Mushok, bassist and backing vocalist Johnny April, and drummer Sal Giancarelli

As the transition for the next band was set, a white backdrop was lifted skyward which blocked the view of the stage as techs readied the equipment of Godsmack. Mix Master Mike, best known for his work with Beastie Boys, graced the screen short performance of remixed past tunes. As his set fizzled out, the white backdrop falls to the floor which revealed the iconic Godsmack logo.

Godsmacks set was nothing short of AMAZING. Tons of Pyro and fan favorite songs made this performance something to remember. Opening their set list was ‘When Legends Rise’, the single from the current album release, ‘𝘓𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘜𝘱 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘬𝘺’ which will be their last of a 28 year career before turning their focus to touring for the foreseeable future. Sully Erna and the boys laid down some OG tracks as well like ‘Cryin Like a Bitch’, ‘Voodoo’, and ‘Awake’. Fans hadnt had enough so the guys returned to the stage for an ENCORE performance of ‘Under Your Scars’ and ‘I Stand Alone’.
