Ram’s Head Live! Baltimore started out insanely hot in more ways than one. A large crowd packed inside the venue in very heightened anticipation of seeing one of the hottest tours crossing the United States in 2022. Newly added to the tour, Divide the Fall opened the show to a very excited crowd. Divide the Fall was established in 2017 in Minneapolis MN, with members Ethan Weinaug (Vocals), Jake Hankel (Guitar), Matthew DeMar (Bass)
and Jack McKoskey on Drums. The guys had a limited set, but had the crowd singing back the lyrics to some of their fan favorite songs “I Won’t Fade Away” and “Bring You Down”. Make sure after the set be sure to catch Divide the Falls members at their merch table for pictures and high fives!
Our brothers from Canada, Oni took no time getting right into the minds of the crowd. The progressive metal band kept everyone’s heads bumping back and forth, head-banging throughout their whole set. Their bassist, Chase Bryant and guitarist, Martin Andre took the stage as their own, rocking out with the rhythm of the music and using every inch of the stage they could. They kept the high-tempo energy throughout their whole set, playing songs like Secret”, “Alone”, and “War Ender”.
Christian rock band RED took the crowd by storm and immediately brought a sense energy to the venue unlike any other. Formed in 2002 and boasting 7 albums and countless hit singles, Brothers Anthony Armstrong on Guitar and Randy Armstrong on Bass joined by Frontman Michael Barnes and newcomer to the band, Drummer Brian Medeiros make up RED. Lead singer, Michael Barnes was bouncing all over the stage, back and forth, up and down and at one point, levitating as it seemed. His voice was flawless and the rest of the band was in sync, never missing a beat or moment. They ended the set with fan favorites, “Breathe Into Me” which left the crowd electrified with energy and ready for the next performance!
Starset’s demonstration was the final performance. Visually stunning with a twist of science fiction. Laser lights beamed across stage marking the beginning of their set. The band walked out to an amazing display of lights and visuals from the screen behind. The band gives true meaning to the expression “rock show,” putting on a show for the audience. Starset is setup as a traditional metal band with singer, guitarist, bassist, and drummer but also adds a interesting twist with a cellist, violinist, and keyboardist, giving each song its own unique sound. Dustin Bates and his band members dress as if they were from the apocalyptic future or a Star Wars movie. In the middle of their set, they held a 5-minute intermission, a quick wardrobe change a background futuristic infomercial played keeping fans engaged in the science-fiction world they threw us into. After the intermission, Brock Richards (guitarist), and Ron Decant (bassist) entered the stage to the song “Satellite” while wearing space suits. These suits changed a variety of colors and also shot out bursts of smoke (simulating a jetpack). Mid performance lead singer, Dustin Bates spoke to the crowd, telling fans that he believes that his band has the best fans in the business. “I have the empirical data to prove it.” He continued “We have metal heads, nerds, and dorks here.” Starset’s style is unique; using props and images on bright LED screens to tell their story place fans in a futuristic world. Fans call themselves “The Starset Society” and its clear to see why. Loyal fans who LOVE this band!
