A reunion? A tribute band? or friends carrying the legacy of brothers? A happy mixture of all three of these is the best way to describe the current line up that is Pantera. Legacy would also be the most fitting name for this tour; this is not a Pantera reunion tour by any means, (RIP DIME & VINNIE) but much more of a extreme statement and tribute to the band’s relentless and powerful legacy. With the 23-24 FOR LEGACY tour wrapping up this past week, we had the opportunity to witness the energy and excitement first hand. From old school fans that are happy they’re able to catch another Pantera show, to new fans that are just happy to be able to finally witness the band performing songs in person for the first time in 20+ years, every fan in the venue seemed welcoming of the new Pantera.
Pantera’s setlist was made up of a majorly of classic riffs that we’re all familiar with. as songs like “Becoming”, “Mouth for War,” “I’m Broken,” and “5 Minutes Alone” to name a few. The higjhlight of the night for me was seeing “Cowboys from Hell” performed live. 20 years ago my brother and I used this song for entrance music as we fought out pillows. Hearing it live brought goosebumps over my body. The whole arena erupted moved together in dance and excitement as the performace was wrapping up on the highest vibration.
