The Knotfest Roadshow made a stop in Reading, PA for a SOLD OUT crowd at Santander Arena! Wage War, In This Moment and Slipknot left nothing on the table either. They were all absolutely fantastic. Between energy from fans and excitement from the bands, you could feel the electricity pumping through the venue.
First up on the evening was a newer band Wage War. They are very much in tune with the newer bands right now. Very loud hard, aggressive and heavy music with a little bit of dread mixed in. One of the things I never realized about them was they had two singers. They traded off vocals which made the music very interesting as each has their own sound. They had TONS of energy, and they had the fans excited for the forthcoming bands.
Second on the lineup was the incredible Maria Brink and In This Moment. After working their way through a 45-minute set, I’d say their performance went over extremely well with the crowd. They opened with an eerie version of Steve Miller’s “Fly Like an Eagle”. And then went into all their fan favorite songs from the album ‘Blood’. Setlist songs performed included,” Blood”, “Sick Like Me” And they closed out the very popular tune, “Whore”.
Next up, the headliner… SLIPKNOT!
These guys absolutely did NOT disappoint! High energy, pyro and heavy metal. Corey Taylor and the guys completely had the crowd in the palm of their hand at the SOLD OUT Santander Arena in Reading! “Disasterpiece”, “Dead Memories”, “Psychosocial”, “Snuff”, “Duality”, and “Spit It Out” were ringing in the ears of fans! The jam-packed 20-song setlist featured plenty of fan favorites such as “Wait and Bleed,” as well as recent single “The Chapeltown Rag” and a few surprises. During Slipknot’s set, Taylor paid tribute to Jinjer, telling the crowd, “This tour was originally supposed to have a band called Jinjer. I don’t know if you know this, but they’re from the Ukraine. Sadly, they could not make it because of the turmoil in their country right now. But on the count of three I want you to scream so fucking loud they can hear it across the ocean.” Slipknot proves to be rockstars with their excitement, chaos and a huge adrenaline rush theatrics. When you make your fans that happy, how could you not be awesome? I want to share with you above all, the incredible talent I find Corey Taylor to be. Admittedly when they first hit the scene in 1999, I didn’t understand it. I wasn’t against what they were doing at all, it just didn’t make sense to me. Finally after seeing them live and it made total sense. After seeing these performances, its hard to understand why fans WOULDN’T like these bands.
